On your first visit I will ask you to come 10 minutes before the start so that we can go through the health questionnaire you would have filled in before class. Please let me know if you have any health problems, are on any medication or are having any alternative treatments. I might have to change some poses in order to accommodate any health concerns so it is important you let me know about it. I can send the medical questionnaire (via email if you have one) & you can fill it in, sign it and give it in on your first class. All information is kept confidential. Before each class I would request pupils to remind me of any known condition he/she has, including period cycles.
Pain, discomfort, ladies during their period: please let me know if you have any medical problems, pain, discomfort, having your period some poses should be avoid during this time) etc, so that I can incorporate asanas and/or modify the programme accordingly.
The recommended dress for the classes are shorts or leggings but preferably your knees should be visible, t-shirts (not so loose that they will fall over your face if you do a forward or back bend pose). You are welcome to wear warmer and looser clothes at the end of the class during the relaxation poses or when we do restorative programmes. Pupils are asked to do the classes in bare feet. It is important to remind that yoga should not be practised immediately after meals (2 hours after a light meal or 4 hours after a heavy meal). However, one should not practice yoga while fasting, as the poses may demand some fuel.
Also please let me know if you have done any form of yoga before, for how long & if you can do inversions such as shoulder and/or head stands.
Please understand that on some occasions due to the pupil's health condition the teacher may deem the class unsuitable. Once in class pupils will follow the teacher’s instructions and consent to the teacher’s adjustments, often involving physical contact. Please note that Yoga involves physical activity and sometimes injuries may occur.
Hope to see you soon.
