Yoga For Change, 2019 Greenpeace Yogathon
Following our hugely successful Yogathons in 2017 & 2018, we were back again in 2019 in the stunning Shrewsbury Park in Plum Lane, Plumstead, SE18 3AG.
Once again we ran a class of 108 non-stop sun salutations to raise money for the environmental group Greenpeace.
This event has been sponsored by Friends of Shrewsbury, Traditional Thai Massage with Paul Davis of "Spiritual Thai"and Lee Greens Veg bag.
Support: This event has been supported by the Iyengar Yoga Institute of South London (IYISL).
Thank you to the following Iyengar Yoga teachers: Leon Carter, Angela Hulm, Biljana Cacic, Cressida Senkus, Jake McLellan and Rebecca Harrington Jones.
A big thank you to Camilla Berens, Odara Bahia Rumbol (graphic designer) , Paul Rumbol, Marion Sinclair and Kristine Inglis. We could not have done without your help!
The total amount raised from the event was an amazing £1,433. This is a record amount for the Yogathon and a brilliant achievement.

The Yogathon was organised by teacher, Priscila. She comes from Brazil where the Amazon rainforest, one of the great green ‘lungs’ for the world, is daily threatened by mining, dams, plantation and cattle expansion. Her awareness of this has sharpened her concern about climate change and the she very strongly supports the great work of Greenpeace in highlighting this danger and in developing viable solutions to the climate emergency.
